Accreditation for Pharmacists
The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This activity provides 1 hour (0.1 CEU) of continuing pharmacy education credit (ACPE Activity # 204-999-09-448-H01P).
Accreditation for Physicians
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and the School of Medicine. The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. PharmGenEd™ Program 
The PharmGenEd™ program team members are faculty and staff from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and the School of Medicine. This program is supported by Grant Number IU38GD000070 from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Methods and Format: This is an online activity consisting of audio and slides, a post-test, and an activity evaluation tool. Participants must view the entire presentation, take the activity post-test, and complete the course evaluation to receive continuing medical/pharmacy education credit. A minimum score of 75% is required on the test for credit to be awarded, and participants may print their official statements of continuing medical/pharmacy education credit immediately. The estimated time to complete this activity is 1 hour. This activity is provided free of charge.
Target Audience: This continuing education activity was planned to help pharmacists, physicians, students, and other health care professionals increase their knowledge of pharmacogenomics principles and concepts.
Activity Content: "Pharmacogenomics Education Program: Bridging the Gap between Science and Practice" (PharmGenEd™) is an evidence-based education program funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, for pharmacists, physicians, students, and other healthcare professionals. This module includes principles, concepts, and practical implications of pharmacogenomics that are relevant to clinical applications. Most recent peer review date of content materials was November 2009.
Learning Objectives: After participating in this application-based continuing medical/pharmacy education (CPE/CME) activity, participants should be able to:
- Identify therapeutic areas in which pharmacogenomic testing can be applied in the clinical setting
- Compare the risks and benefits of pharmacogenomic testing
- Summarize evidence-based recommendations for pharmacogenomic testing
- Using patient case scenarios, formulate a plan for pharmacogenomics testing based upon available scientific evidence
- Identify resources for obtaining current and updated pharmacogenomic information
Faculty

Grace M. Kuo, Pharm.D., M.P.H. is the principal investigator/program director for the pharmacogenomics education program, PharmGenEd™. Dr. Kuo has over 10 years of clinical experience working at different healthcare settings (hospital, primary care clinic, home care and community pharmacy, and consulting). She is currently an AHRQ-funded career development award recipient and a health services researcher, with ongoing projects titled "Safe Use of Medications in Primary Care Practices".

Kelly C. Lee, Pharm.D., BCPP is co-investigator/program staff for the pharmacogenomics education program, PharmGenEd™. Dr. Lee is board certified in psychiatric pharmacy. At UCSD, she is responsible for teaching psychopharmacology to psychiatry residents and pharmacy students. Dr. Lee practices in an outpatient psychiatric MTMS clinic and her area of research involves promoting safe and appropriate use of psychotropics in mental health patients as well as identifying genetic markers for response to drugs in patients with treatment-resistant depression.
